Bio
In 2007, Monalisa transitioned to working as a legal assistant, where she helped individuals navigate the complexities of probation, offering guidance on early termination. This role served as the foundation for her creation of Probation Station in 2014, a radio program designed to inform and educate the community on how to proactively engage with the criminal justice system.
Her commitment to service expanded in 2015 when she began mentoring incarcerated youth. Through her creation of community events, grassroots leadership, and impactful campaigns such as Amendment 4 and the Tammy Jackson Act, Monalisa solidified her role as an organizer both organically and professionally. Her experience as a field and event manager for a congressional campaign further exemplified her leadership abilities.
Monalisa’s focus on sustainability grew as she spearheaded two community gardens. Through this experience, she learned that the universe provides in abundance and that cultivating one’s own food is a powerful solution for mental health and self-sufficiency.
Her advocacy work has earned her recognition on platforms like NBC Voices, Joe Madison’s The Black Eagle on Sirius XM, and The Westside Gazette. She is a well-known figure in Miami-Dade and Broward County, particularly for her work with youth. Most recently, Monalisa was featured on MSNBC, further elevating her voice to educate the community.
Living by the words her mother shared with her, “when you do it with love, it will flourish,” Monalisa remains dedicated to transforming her community with truth, compassion, and unwavering commitment.
